Understanding timber cladding
What is timber cladding?
Timber cladding is an outer covering of timber boards fitted to a building’s external walls. It creates the visible finish of the façade, bringing natural texture and character to anything from a feature entrance to an entire elevation.
It has a practical purpose too. Installed as part of a properly designed external wall system, timber cladding acts as a rainscreen, helping to deflect wind-driven rain. A drained and ventilated space behind the boards allows moisture to escape and helps the cladding dry.
A distinctive appearance
Timber adds warmth and detail to a building’s exterior. The grain, board profile, direction and finish can all contribute to the design, complementing glazing, brickwork or metal cladding.
Protection from the weather
Cladding forms the outer layer of the wall system. Its performance depends on the complete construction, including the cavity, membranes, flashings and installation details.
New builds & refurbishment
Use timber to give a new building its identity or refresh the appearance of an existing property. It can cover whole elevations or highlight entrances and selected features.

01 / MATERIALS, COLOUR & FINISH
The right material.
Your chosen finish.
Choose a cladding material and finish that complement your building, suit its exposure and achieve the appearance you want. We supply and install to your project specification, with timber spray finishing available to your specified colour.
From natural timber tones to colours that reflect your brand, we can coordinate the finish with your building’s design and surrounding materials.
Natural timber can change colour as it weathers. Coated finishes need ongoing care in line with the coating manufacturer’s guidance, so maintenance should be considered alongside your choice of material and colour.
02 / TIMBER-EFFECT CLADDING
The timber look.
More material options.
Timber-effect cladding recreates the appearance of wood using alternative materials. It offers the character of a timber-style façade, with a choice of grain patterns, tones and profiles to complement your building.
We supply and install nationwide, including fibre cement and products from Nichiha, Cedral, Trespa and Rockpanel.
And many more choices
Suitable products can be used across complete elevations or to highlight entrances and feature areas. The finish, performance and maintenance requirements vary between ranges, so we can discuss the options against your project specification and preferred appearance.
Material guarantees
Confidence in your choice of cladding
Selected materials in our range carry manufacturer-backed guarantees, including 50-year above-ground warranties for Accoya and MEDITE TRICOYA EXTREME, and a 10-year product performance guarantee for Trespa Pura NFC.
The cover available depends on the chosen product, its application and the manufacturer’s conditions. Material, colour and coating guarantees may have different periods and requirements.
